MacKay fences to another World Cup gold
CBC Sports Canadian Sherraine MacKay continued her streak on the World Cup fencing circuit Sunday, winning her third straight gold medal. MacKay, a native of Brooks, Alta., defeated world No. 2 Imke Duplitzer of Germany 15-10 in the women's epee final at the World Cup in Tauberbischosheim, Germany. "People have been coming up and saying how amazing it is to have won so many World Cups in a row like this and all I can say is that it is an unbelievable feeling," said MacKay, currently ranked No. 1 in world. France's Marysa Baradji-Duchene and Laura Flessel-Colovic took home the bronze medals. MacKay posted wins over Germany's Angelika Kappen, Melanie Soiron of France, Diana Romagnoli Takouka of Switzerland before edging Sonja Tol of the Netherlands 15-12 in the quarter-finals and No. 3-ranked Flessel-Colovic of France 15-13 in the semis.
