Grant-A-Week WINNER
Erica Riddell - Figure Skating

akasane designMy name is Erica and I have been skating since the age of 3. I quickly went through the CFSA Canskate program and began private lessons. My first competition was at the age of 4, and I have been competing ever since. I have a sincere love for my sport and a good work ethic.

I was recently injured during a practice for the Manitoba Summer Skate, and have been working very hard to get to get my strength and jumps back. My hard work is paying off and I am now ready to compete in my first Sectionals in Moose Jaw in mid November 99.

I made the Sask First Team this year by placing first in my long and short program at the Sask Juveniles Competition. I passed my Sr. Bronze Freeskate and Sr. Bronze Dances in February 1999, just after I turned 10.

My goals this year are to land all of my double jumps consistently, including the double axle. I skate approximately 12 hours a week and attend Spring, Summer and Fall schools. My coach is Patty Hole of Virden, Manitoba.

I will be using the CAAWS Nike Grant that I received to help pay for ice time and lessons at the Wawota Figure Skating Club. Someday I hope to go to the Canadians and possibly the Olympics.

I would also like to be the first woman to land a quad!
