Meredith Demizio - Gymnastics

Sixteen year-old Meredith Demizio trains 25+ hours a week at the Gymnastics Energy Club in St. Catherines, Ontario.
Meredith started at the young age of 6 and has slowly moved her way up the ranks.

In 1998, Meredith placed 27th at the Canadian Nationals and set a goal that she would be a member of the national team before she stopped competing.

Focusing her energies Meredith set her sights on a top 16 finish at the 1999 Nationals as the next step. Early in this season she injured her ankle but continued to train with the help of a physiotherapist. Six weeks before the Nationals Meredith's family's insurance coverage ran out and she was unable to afford the treatment. She persevered and surpassed her goal with a 7th place finish. "I did it. I followed my dreams and I did it!"
