Grant-A-Week WINNER
Robyn Hermitage - Badminton
My name is Robbyn Hermitage and I was the gold medal
winner in badminton (Ladies Doubles) at the Pan-Am Games held
in Winnipeg this past July. It was a fantastic experience and
I that I will never forget.
In addition to training and competing to qualify or the
2000 Olympics, I coach the McGill University badminton team and
also am the badminton professional at a club in Montreal. I come
into contact with many fantastic athletes and enjoy sharing experiences.
Receiving this grant will aid my travelling expenses.
I have recently competed in Los Angles, Suriname, Edmonton and
Brazil and have many more tournaments to participate in before
my place at the Olympics is assured.

Badminton is not the
most widely recognized sport (except in Asia and Denmark)
but I love it and welcome any opportunity to play, promote
or teach this under-acknowledged sport.

Badminton is not the most widely
recognized sport (except in Asia and Denmark) but I love it and
welcome any opportunity to play, promote or teach this under-acknowledged
sport. By coaching at two prestigious institutions I am bringing
my love of badminton to many talented athletes and in the process
hopefully increasing the awareness of my sport.
I appreciate the CAAWS/Nike Grant-A-Week
and applaud their aim to support female athletes.
Sincerely,
Robyn Hermitage
