Grant-A-Week WINNER Maria Gallo is entering into her fourth year of Bio-Medical Sciences at the University of Guelph and hopes to go to Medical School and specialize in Sports Medicine. She is a sport fanatic, enjoying all sports but her passion is rugby. Maria is a member of the Women's Varsity Team, Guelph's Rugby Club and the Ontario Senior Women's Team. This past season she was awarded Team MVP, All-Canadian Status, CIAU Tournament MVP and Female Athlete of the Year. Outside of rugby, Maria finds herself very busy with volunteer work at the Health and Performance Centre at the University of Guelph, being an active Army Reservist and studying for her MCAT exam. Like many athletes she must pay for training camps
and traveling expenses for many competitions. As a motivated
and enthusiastic female athlete with a chance to represent Canada
one day I am delighted to receive this grant to help off set
some of my expenses.
