Ana Raluca Oproescu - Marathon Runner

Hello!

My name is Ana Raluca Oproescu. I am a 22 year old Canadian, and a 3rd year Psychology student at the University of British Columbia. I study full time, work part time and train daily at the YMCA.

During elementary school I was diagnosed with asthma and encouraged to participate in more sports. I played soccer in high school and also won a medal in provincial girls wrestling.

At that time I hated running but began running slowly as a worked out at the Y. In 1996 I saw people running a marathon in Victoria and decided to work hard an see if I could do it to. In 1999 I completed my first marathon. I strongly believe now that if you work hard at something, you can succeed.

My current goal is to do a marathon under 3hrs40minutes.
