Northern Prawns - Broomball

The St. Anthony & Area Junior Girls Broomball League was initiated in 1993/94 by Madeline Ollerhead, Manager, Linda Anstey, Coach, and Sandra Sinyard, Assistant Coach. The purpose was to provide young females from age 12 to 19 with the opportunity to participate in a sport that was both physical and fun as well as give them the chance to compete on a provincial championship level.

The Northern Prawns was awarded team of the year, St. Anthony, in 1997. Individual players have also received the local Female Athlete of the Year award for five consecutive years.

During the past seven years, the All Star Team (Northern Prawns) has won two provincial bronze, two silver, and two gold medals. The team represented Newfoundland and Labrador at the Atlantic Junior Broomball Championships in 1997 and won the Atlantic Gold Metal.
