Grant-A-Week WINNER
LNR Ringers - Ringette
We are thrilled that you have chosen us!
The LNR Ringers are a Tween B team playing out of
Whitecourt. We started with a very small group of 6 girls wanting
to learn a new game and hoping that together they could get other
girls interested enough to come out and give ringette a try.

The first year we practiced and practiced but because we were
such a small group of varying ages we couldn't enter a league.
That changed our second year
when we had enough girls interested to form a team of 11 and enter
a league! The year was not that successful as far as wins go but
very successful as far as team building and friendship go!By the
time the year ended we had more girls wanting to join and we were
all looking forward to the fall when we could lace up our skates
and get back on the ice.

When
asked to compare the game of hockey with the game of ringette
one of our girls said "Ringette is more fun and more
challenging. You have to use team play, rely on your team
mates and have fun!"

In September, 1999, we had enough,
just 4 years after starting ringette, to have 2 teams! One Tween
B and one Novice. The girls were so excited that their hard work
and perseverance in encouraging others to come out had paid off.
The Tween team, the LNR Ringers,
entered a league and as of now have won their first round of playoffs!
What a huge step has been taken in a short amount of time. The
team hosted their first ever Whitecourt Ringette Tournament with
4 teams in a Novice division, 8 teams in a Tween division and
also hosted the Junior A Alberta Winter Game Playdowns for zone
5 at the sames time. Teams joined us from 300 kilometres away,
making our first tournament a huge success! Although we lost the
B final we were extremely proud of the way the weekend went.
We are very happy with the hard
work and dedication and sportsmanship that our girls have shown
over the past 4 years. When asked to compare the game of hockey
with the game of ringette one of our girls said "Ringette
is more fun and more challenging. You have to use team play, rely
on your team mates and have fun!"
The grant we receive from CAAWS
will help with our purchase of new goalie equipment so that our
small goalie equipment can be passed down to our new Novice team.
Thank you for choosing the LNR
Ringers!
