Grant-A-Week WINNER
Sunshine Coast Volleyball

The SCVC was created by in 1997 to promote volleyball on the Sunshine Coast and to help young & talented athletes develop their volleyball skills. The SCVC is a member club of the British Columbia Volleyball Association, and draws athletes from all 3 high schools on the Sunshine Coast: Chatelech Secondary in Sechelt
Pender Harbour Secondary
Elphinstone Secondary

In its first season of play, in 1997/98, the SCVC had 10 girls of various ages playing in the Juvenile Tier II division. At the 1998 Provincial Championships, we finished tied for 22nd.

The following season, 1998/99, the SCVC had grown to 22 girls playing primarily at the Juvenile Tier II level. At the 1999 Provincial Championships, we finished 4th.

For the 1999/2000 season, we have over 50 girls playing at 3 age levels (Juvenile, Midget, & Bantam). Through our affiliation with the Sunshine Coast Volleyball Camp, run by former National Team player & Head Coach Betty Baxter, the SCVC has grown dramatically as volleyball on the Sunshine Coast is becoming increasingly popular.

This past March, we had the pleasure of bringing Conrad Leinemann to the Sunshine Coast for a pep rally and a clinic. Conrad and his partner Jody Holden won the Pan-American Games Gold Medal in Beach Volleyball this past summer, and are presently training for the Olympics. Both events were fun and exciting and we look forward to cheering for Conrad & Jody in Sydney!
