Grant-A-Week WINNER
The Avalon Community Association-
Basketball
The
Avalon Community Association provides a fun and exciting basketball
program for girls ages (7-17) www.eteamz.com/avalonbball.
The Avalon Community Association has had many talented
young women go from community basketball onto highschool and university
level play. As well, many players who don't go onto highschool
basketball have the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful team sport.
With more than 88 young women participating in our program, Avalon
ranks as one of the largest community programs in the Saskatoon
Minor Basketball Association (www.smba.ca).
In 2001, the program was expanded to include grade
11 and 12 highschool girls interested in playing recreational
basketball.
The CAAWS grant helped the community association
to purchase girls basketball jerseys. In the past years, we've
had to utilize boys jerseys which don't fit as well so it's a
treat to have the new jerseys!
In the picture is one of our Midget Girls - the
"Untamed Talent" Team.
A great big thanks to CAAWS for supporting our girls
program!
