Synchronized Swimming

akasane designHi! First, I would like to thank you very much for selecting me as a recipient for the CAAWS/Nike Grant. I started synchronized swimming four years ago at the age of 10 and I never want to stop. I enjoy it so much! Ever since the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, it has been my dream to represent Canada with my sport.I am so proud of our Canadian teams. My next goal along with my teammates is to qualify at a National level. Some members of my team already have! We are so lucky to have such a wonderful coach Susan Crews.

Our team goal this year is to place first in Western Canada at Divisionals and in the top three at Nationals. I am very dedicated to my sport and get along well with the swimmers on my team, so I feel I can be an asset to those around me. I try to be positive and upbeat. Getting some financial support will help me for sure to keep on working and swimming harder and harder. I sure do appreciate the grant and so does my Mom!

My team (Team B.C. 2001 ) works and trains super hard 6 days a week all year long. We have to cross-train as well by running and working out at the gym. Some of us take dance lessons when we can. It can be very exhausting but we love it! Synchronized swimming is such a powerful, creative and unique sport. I want to be able to be part of it for as long as I can. Thank you so much!
