Grant-A-Week WINNER
Jenna Dunn - Basketball
My
name is Jenna Dunn and I am 15 years old. I was successful in
making the Nova Scotia Provincial Midget Girls Basketball Team.
I have enjoyed learning and playing basketball since I was in
early elementary school. When my dad (who is also my coach) told
me that there was a try-out for our provincial team, I decided
to go and test my skills against others.
When the weekend came to go to the try-outs, I was
nervous. It's hard to go somewhere and work as a team with players
that you don't even know, but I survived, and even made some friends
along the way.
After practicing together, my team has come together

As part of this team I will be traveling to Truro,
Vermont, Saint John and Montreal for tournaments. This will be
a great experience for my teammates and I, for we will get to
see many different places. To compete against all the different
levels of skill and competition will also be an extremely good
experience, and hopefully better our knowledge of the game of
basketball.
I would like to thank CAAWS and NIKE for providing
me with this grant. This team and experience will hopefully give
me the background to be able to come back and coach and help other
adolescents that love the game as much as I do. In my opinion,
my dad is one of the best coaches I know, and I would like to
be able to coach like him.
