Sofie Manarin, one of Canada's top cross-country skiers, has died in a cycling accident.

Manarin, 17, was riding her bike near Sudbury, Ont. when she swerved into the side of a passing tractor-trailer. Police said there will be no charges laid as result of the accident.

A funeral for Manarin is scheduled for Wednesday. The top ranked junior women's skier in Canada, Manarin placed 28th in the women's 15-km at the World Junior Championships in Poland in February.

It was the top finish by a North American. She had just completed her first full year on the ski team and was preparing to leave for summer training at the Canadian Ski Team's national training centre in Canmore.
