GIRLS EXPLORE THEIR POTENTIAL

On Thursday, February 7th/02 the girls of Gimli High School (located in Gimli, Manitoba) will be participating in a unique, fun event to assist them in exploring options in adding physical activity to their lives. It's also a day where awareness will be increased about the importance of physical activity and its link to self-esteem.

This day provides an opportunity for girls from grade 8 to 12 to feel good about themselves and the relationships in their lives. There will be chances to listen and participate with female role models.

The day starts out with motivational speaker and Olympic Weight Lifter Susanne Dandenault. Other women from the community are also invited to attend and be inspired at this keynote address. From there the students break out into sessions they are interested in exploring including kickboxing, latin and swing dance, hip hop dance, self-defense and healthy relationships, yoga, cosmetics and fashion. The day concludes with guest speaker Joan Hreno and the topic "Making Choices."

Partners in presenting this conference to the girls of Gimli, Winnipeg Beach and the surrounding area include the Evergreen School Division, the Kinsmen Club of Gimli, Interlake Regional Health Authority, Interlake Sport Development, Gimli High School and the Town of Winnipeg Beach.

This is a day to help girls achieve a healthy lifestyle and increase their awareness regarding the number of choices they have. It's a day to explore and push their boundaries in an accepting environment …. who knows what they'll discover!
