May 17, 2010 International Day Against Homophobia
Lunch & Learn in Ottawa

CAAWS is honouring the International Day Against Homophobia (IDAHO) with a themed Lunch and Learn event in Ottawa. This year's IDAHO theme Speaking about Silence: Homophobia in the Sports World reinforces the importance of the work of CAAWS and our partners in this area. It provides an opportunity to build on the success of the first-ever PRIDE Houses in Vancouver and Whistler as part of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Lunch and Learn participants will view the new documentary “Training Rules”, which uncovers how the dreams and lives of many young female athletes have been destroyed by the intensely homophobic climate of many U.S. colleges and universities. Discussion following the film will be facilitated by Jennifer Birch-Jones, CAAWS' Addressing Homophobia in Sport Initiative lead.
