Experiences with Sport, Physical Activity and Healthy Living
workshops which will be offered in communities across Ontario
in the coming months. For more information about the project,

2. WOMEN AND LEADERSHIP CORNER
WOMEN ON BOARDS IN THE NEW YEAR!
On January 17th the CAAWS Most Influential Women
of 2012 will be announced; this follows some of the
celebrations that have already taken place in sport identifying
some of Canada’s top women. To continue the great work
women are doing in the sector, this month’s leadership
focus is on Women on Boards.
Women are underrepresented in leadership positions, particularly
in sport and recreation. Opportunities for women to be involved
in the governing bodies and committees across the sport and
physical activity sector should be created and promoted to
have greater diversity of skills, experiences, opinions and
strategies which means better governance; and better governance
inevitable means better results. As a woman, becoming part
of a board can offer a wealth of opportunities to broaden
your horizons, gain new skills and experience the satisfaction
of serving the community at large.

3. CAASP PARENT/CAREGIVER SURVEY
The Canadian Active After School Partnership (of which CAAWS
is a member) wants to better understand how children between
5 and 17 years of age spend their time during the after school
time period from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. If you are a parent or
caregiver, please complete this 10 minute survey to help us learn more about this
topic. We want to know how children spend their time after
school; what parents think about after school programs that
their children are now in; and what children who are not in
after school programming do during this time period.
To thank you for taking part, you will have the option to
enter your email address into a draw for one of three $150
gift certificates at Sport Chek! We also invite you to share
this survey with anyone else who is a parent or caregiver
to a child between the ages of 5 and 17.
