Breastfeeding

Public Places

Because you breastfeed doesn't mean that you have to stop attending fitness classes or returning to your health club. Wherever you and your baby can go in public you can breastfeed your baby! Breastfeeding is the most natural act of nurturing a mother can give her baby. No woman should be told to stop breastfeeding in public and no woman should have to hide in order to breastfeed or use a bottle when she is in a public place.

A baby needs to be fed on demand, and a mother should not feel pressured that she cannot breastfeed in public. Wherever the mother has a right to be with her baby, she also has a right to breastfeed. The Human Rights Commission of Canada has recently enacted a legislation to clarify the fact that women have a right to breastfeed in public.
