Women's basketball squeaks
by Brazil in final game
CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Canada had some rough goings in
women's basketball in Sydney, but they finished off strong squeaking by Brazil 61-60 on
Sunday in round robin play.
Led by Stacey Dales' 16 points, Canada came back from a
51-36 deficit late in the game to upset the Brazilians by one point.
Janeth Arcain led opponents with a game high 19 points.
Her teammates Claudia Neves and Crisitina Helen Luz had 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Canada had a balanced attack with seven players scoring
at least six points. They finished off their Olympic tournament with a round robin record
of 2-3. Though Canada was tied with two other teams at 2-3, they don't advance to the
medal rounds based on their points for and against.
