Disappointment
for Dubnicoff
Globe
and Mail Update
Any medal
hopes for Canadian cyclist Tanya Dubnicoff in the sprint event
died on the track at the Dunc Gray Velodrome Tuesday night.
She lost
to the Ukraine's Iryna Yanovych in the quarterfinals and failed
to advance.
Dubnicoff,
30, is competing in her third Games. She has tasted victory
often on the international stage. She was the first cyclist
to win a gold medal at three consecutive Pan American Games,
and she won the sprint at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
She finished
out of the medals at the Atlanta Olympics four years ago.
