MOUNT WASHINGTON, N.H. (CP) - Genevieve Jeanson of Lachine, Que., finished second to defending Olympic champion Jeannie Longo at the Mount Washington cycling road race on Saturday.

Jeanson, who saw her event record eclipsed by Longo, finished in a time of one hour 14 seconds. Longo, a native of France, won the 12.2-kilometre race in 58:14, breaking Jeanson's record of 1:01:57, set last year.

Jeanson will represent Canada at the Sydney Olympics, which begin next month.

In addition to her gold medal from the 1996 Atlanta Games, Longo has captured 11 world championships in road and track racing and has won the Tour de France three times.
