Canadian Three Day Event Team Announces
Olympic Short List

Ottawa, Ontario --- The Three Day Event Selection Committee is pleased to announce the names of the Short Listed horse/rider combinations for the Three Day Event competition at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, AUS.

In total, six horse/rider combinations met the Short List criteria. The six horse/rider combinations, listed in alphabetical order, are:
Stuart Black with his own and Jennifer and Barry Austall-Wolfson's Irunformillarsburg
Tricia Dahms with Dianne Caine's Calling all Cars
Bruce Mandeville with Elke and Franz Hollenbach's Larissa
Penny Rowland with her own Aberdare
Wyndham St John with her own and Nicolas Tafuro's Oliver XXIII
Kelli McMullen Temple with her own and Carl and Mieke Bouckaert's Kilkenny.

Unfortunately, Black has withdrawn due to injury to his qualified horse. The remaining short listed horses and riders will compete in a Mandatory Short List Outing at Over The Walls Advanced Horse Trials at Great Meadowbrook Farm in Massachusetts, August 5-6. British-based St. John will compete at the Cornbury Park Advanced Horse Trials, July 22-23.

As described in the Short List criteria, the purpose of the Mandatory Short List Outing is for horse/rider combinations to demonstrate their continued preparation, fitness, soundness and ability. The Selectors wish to assess the performance of the horse/rider combination without placing undue stress on the horse, therefore points will not be awarded at these competitions.

Following a 14 day quarantine, the North American-based horses depart from New York on August 22 for the 27 hour flight to Sydney, AUS. The British-based horse will depart on August 22 or 23. Upon arrival in Sydney, the horses will be transported to the Sydney International Equestrian Centre at Horsley Park, the site of all of Olympic equestrian competition. The three day event competition begins September 16 and runs until September 22.
