Despite a solid performance from veteran Jujie Luan,
Canada was beaten 45-35 by Ukraine in the team fencing preliminaries and eliminated. In
the competition, three players play three games each against the opposition, and Canada
went 3-5-1.
Luan, a 42-year-old veteran, went 2-0-1. But Julie
Mahoney was 1-2 and Sherraine Schalm struggled, going 0-3. She lost her matches by a
combined score of 18-2.
