The women's eight salvaged some pride in rowing, winning a bronze medal on Sunday. Only two other
Canadian boats were in finals, and both finished fourth. Canada won six medals in rowing in Atlanta four years

The women's eight came alive in the final 1,000 metres and finished second in a photo finish with Australia in their repêchage, edging the host nation by only one-tenth of a second. Their placing meant a spot in the final, since the top three boats automatically went through.-September 20, 2000
 
Australian community adopts Canadian Olympic rowing team
The friendly Queensland city of Rockhampton built a $200,000 training centre for the Canadian rowing team. This is an even more stunning gesture when you realize that the centre was custom built for the Canadian team to prepare for the Sydney Olympic Games.
