| Tuesday June 13th, 2000 Final Selection for Olympic
Softball Roster To be made following 3 Nations Challenge
Seventeen members from the Women's Olympic Pool have one
more chance to showcase their skills before the final selection of the Women's National
Softball Team who will represent Canada at the 2000 Olympic Summer Games in Sydney,
Australia. The 3 Nations Challenge will be the final event in the selection process for
Canada's 15-member Olympic Roster and will feature 3 of the 8 Women's National Softball
Teams heading to the 2000 Olympics. Canada, Australia and New Zealand will bring exciting
softball competition to Canada when they meet for the first-ever 3 Nations Challenge in
Brampton, Ontario from June 21st-24th.
"The athletes and coaching staff are looking forward
to the 3 Nations Challenge with much excitement," states Head Coach Ron Clarke
"especially knowing that it will be used as the final step in the selection process
for the Women's Olympic Softball Team".
The 3 Nations Challenge consists of a double round robin
format from Wednesday June 21st - Friday, June 23rd with games each day at 6:30pm and
8:30pm at the Brampton Fairgrounds on McMurchy Street (Main St. West). The semi-finals and
finals will take place on Saturday, June 24that 1pm and 3:30pm and will be televised by
CBC Sports.
Softball Canada in partnership with the City of Brampton
will be hosting a media conference to meet the members of the National Team as they
prepare for the final selection of the Olympic Team. The media conference will take place
on Monday June 19that 1pm at the Brampton City Hall, 2 Wellington St. W.
Softball Canada is pleased to be working with the Brampton
Girls Softball Association, the City of Brampton, Softball Ontario and the Provincial
Women's Softball Association (PWSA) to host this event.

The 2000 Olympic Summer Games will be from September 15th-
October 1st, 2000 with the softball competition taking place from September 17th -26th.
