Canadian women lose in straight sets to Croatia

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (CP) -- The Canadian women's volleyball team was swept in straight sets (17-25, 20-25, 18-25) by Croatia at the Montreux Valley Masters Tournament on Friday.

"I was disappointed with the team's lack of finish," said head coach Doug Reimer. "They seemed well in the warm up then we lost our team spirit during the match."

Rae-Ann Mitchell led Canada with 10 kills, while Kim Exner had four kills and three blocks.

Canada sits fourth in their pool and play the Netherlands Saturday.

The tournament is a tune-up before the women's Olympic qualifier in Tokyo, June 17 to 25.
