Canada comes back with a win against The Netherlands

Los Alamitos (California) - A day after a lost against the USA, the Canadian women's waterpolo team defeated The Netherlands 5 to 4 Wednesday, at the Los Alamitos Holiday Cup. Montreal's Ann Dow, with two goals in the first half, and goalkeepers Josée Marsolais and Isabelle Auger played a great match. Calgary's Cora Campbell, Johanne Bégin from Ste-Foy and Waneek Horn-Miller from Kanawake completed the score for Canada.

"Against the Americans, we didn't play well defensively. We did against the Netherlands, said Ann Dow who had a lucky goal at the beginning of the game. Last night (Tuesday) we would hesitate a lot. Tonight, we kept talking to each other and Josée and Isabelle made the big saves in the net."

"It's true we played well defensively, added Johanne Bégin, a police officer. I personally had 4 or 5 steals in the centre. I'm proud of having responded to the new task the coaches gave me".

Thursday, Canada will play against Kazakhstan. The six national teams who will be at the first women's water-polo olympic tournament in Sydney, are playing the Holiday Cup.
