Turcotte fourth after Mexican appears out of nowhere
Mexican Soraya Jimenez Mendivil appeared out of nowhere to win gold in the women's 58-kg competition last night. Her rise pushed favoured Korean Ri Son Hui off the top of the podium, downgraded expected silver medallist Khassaroporn Suta to bronze, and denied Canada's Maryse Turcotte (fourth) any medal at all. - Sep. 19, 2000

Canadian Weightlifter qualifies
Maryse Turcotte says she isn't yet counting the days, but if she needs a little help, it is precisely 151 days until the opening ceremony of the XXVII Olympic Games, where she will stride to the platform of the Sydney Convention Centre and make Canadian weightlifting history. (Montreal Gazette) - April 17, 2000
