Canada's Brenner wins bronze in World Cup freestyle event

CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Canadian Veronica Brenner finished third in aerials at a World Cup freestyle ski event in Lake Placid, N.Y., on Sunday.

The bronze-medal performance lifted her into sixth spot in overall World Cup aerials standings.

Allsa Tsuper of Belarus claimed the gold medal with 187.96 points. China's Nannan Xu was second with 183.69 points while Brenner, 26, was third with 173.37 to claim her 26th career World Cup medal.

"My confidence is coming back and I'm in the ryhthm," said Brenner, who earned a gold medal at a freestyle event last weekend in Mont-Tremblant, Que. "It seems my competition plan is working and I'm back."

Another Canadian, Deidra Dionne, finished fourth while compatriots Veronika Bauer finished sixth and Pascale Gadbois was 18th.
