Canada's
Brenner wins bronze in World Cup freestyle event
CBC SPORTS ONLINE - Canadian Veronica Brenner finished
third in aerials at a World Cup freestyle
ski event in Lake Placid, N.Y., on Sunday.
The bronze-medal performance lifted
her into sixth spot in overall World Cup aerials standings.
Allsa Tsuper of Belarus claimed the gold medal
with 187.96 points. China's Nannan Xu was second with 183.69
points while Brenner, 26, was third with 173.37 to claim
her 26th career World Cup medal.
"My confidence is coming back and I'm
in the ryhthm," said Brenner, who earned a gold medal
at a freestyle event last weekend in Mont-Tremblant, Que.
"It seems my competition plan is working and I'm back."
Another Canadian, Deidra Dionne, finished
fourth while compatriots Veronika Bauer finished sixth and
Pascale Gadbois was 18th.
