Woolstencroft captured the women's standing slalom in 1:50.40.
Calgary's Karolina Wisniewska was second in 1:50.80. The
medal was Wisniewska's fourth of these Games, making her
Canada's most decorated athlete at this event.

wins gold in Super G
Lauren Woolstencroft had a lot her mind as she stood at
the gate before her Super-G run Monday at the Paralympic
Games. On the first day of the Games, the Victoria native
crashed during her run in the downhill, twisting her knee.

Veteran disabled champion goes from World Cup finals to Paralympics.
If there is a queen of disabled women's skiing, her name is
Lauren Woolstencroft. The 20-year-old Calgarian has dominated
her sport like no other in recent years. The four-year veteran
of Canada's national disabled ski team was the downhill, giant
slalom and slalom champion at the 2000 world championships.

The
Canadian Olympic Association would like to see Beckie Scott's
bronze medal in the five-kilometre pursuit upgraded to gold
after the two cross-country skiers who finished ahead of
her were caught doping Sunday, according to a report by

Hughes becomes Summer/Winter Games medallist
The speed skaters sent the records falling again in the 5,000-metre
race at the Utah Olympic oval Saturday.Winnipeg's Clara Hughes
also set a unique record of her own. With her bronze-medal
performance, she became the first Canadian and only the fourth
athlete ever to win medals at both the Winter and Summer Games.

Scott
shows winning is not always main thing
Canadian skier misses another medal, but her accomplishments
in the sport can't be overemphasized. The first time around,
she went out too fast, was first heading into the final turn,
and then was boxed in and outmanoeuvred at the finish. It
was a learning experience that unfortunately cost Beckie Scott
any chance at her second Olympic medal here.-
