Canada's Verbeek wins wrestling silver
Canadian Tonya Verbeek lost her gold-medal wrestling bout on Monday but took the silver after winning a semifinal earlier in the day. Verbeek of Beamsville, Ont., lost the match to the heavily favoured Saori Yoshida Japan 6-0 in the women's 55-kilogram division. - August 23, 2004

Canadian Tonya Verbeek will compete for an Olympic gold medal in women's wrestling on Monday. Verbeek of Beamsville, Ont., is guaranteed at least a silver medal after defeating Sweden's Ida-Theres Karlsson 3-1 in the semifinals of the 55-kilogram division in Athens earlier on Monday. - August 23, 2004

Canada's Verbeek advances to wrestling semis; Nordhagen out
Canadian wrestler Tonya Verbeek moved on to the semifinals after winning both her matches on Sunday, while teamate Christine Nordhagen's long journey to the Olympics came to an abupt end.
Verbeek, of Beamsville, Ont., defeated American Tela O'Donnell and Russia's Olga Smirnova in the elimination pool of the 55-kilogram class at the Ano Liossia Olympic Hall in Athens. She'll take on Sweden's Ida-Theres Karlsson in Monday's semifinal. - August 22, 2004
