Canada succesfully defends their Women's
Paralympic title
The reigning Paralympic Champions, Canada came up big to clinch
the gold, thanks to a 3-1 victory over the USA in the 2004 Women's
Paralympic Goalball Tournament.
Canada showed their superiority from the beginning of the match.
They came forward at 7:04 when Nancy MORIN scored the first goal
of the match. Previously, with 7.50 to go for the end of the first
half, the USA failed to go ahead, when they missed a penalty.The
second goal for Canada was scored by Amy ALSOP with 6:07 remaining.
Asya MILLER bagged a goal for the USA in second half, to cut the
margin to 2-1, but Canada made a quick comeback 2:31 before the
end of the match, scoring their third goal and sealing the victory.
Canada succesfully defended their Paralympic title, while the USA
jumped four places compared to their previous finish of sixth in
Sydney.
