In Monday’s schedule, Canada added three medals- one of each colour- to its haul to finish with 40 (15 gold, 14 silver and 11 bronze). There were 19 swimmers on the Canadian team.

In the women’s 50 freestyle for the visually impaired, Cote took the gold in a personal best 28.47 for her seventh medal and fifth gold. Prue Watt of Australia was second in 28.89 and Chelsey Gotell earned the bronze clocking 29.00 flat.

‘’It’s a great way to end the Games,” said Cote, also a gold medallist in the 100 butterfly, 100 and 400 freestyle and 200 individual medley and silver medallist in the 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. ‘’I knew what it would take to do well at these Games. I followed my coach’s race strategies and it worked out very well.”

For Gotell it was her fourth medal of the Game to go along with two other bronze and a gold.

‘’The competition was a lot stronger than I expected,” said Gotell, the 100 backstroke winner on the weekend. ‘’So to still deliver this kind of showing is very satisfying.”

In the women’s 4X100 medley relay, the Canadians took the silver with Dixon, Anne Polinario of Toronto, Elisabeth Walker of St. Catharines, Ont., and Darda Geiger of Sarnia, Ont. It was Geiger’s first medal of the Games.

Dixon finishes with eight medals earning a gold, six silver and a bronze. For Polinario it was her fifth trip to the podium. She also pocketed another two gold and two silver this week. For Walker it was her second medal to go along with a bronze.

Donovan Tildesley of Vancouver with two silver and a bronze; Danielle Campo of Calgary with a silver and two bronze, Andrea Cole of Thunder Bay, Ont., with a silver and bronze; and Hill with two bronze.
