August 12, 2003 Canadian Women 5th at PAGs The Canadian women win their final match at the Pan American Games beating Trinidad and Tobago 6-0. Having set a performance target of finishing in the top three, the Canadian women were not able to advance out of their pool having lost to the USA 3-0, as well as only drawing 1-1, with Uruguay. Qualifying through the PAGs for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens was always a long shot for the Canadian women. To do so, the women would need to have defeated the current world champions, Argentina, in the gold medal match.
