Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Women’s World Cup Team today failed to qualify for the 2004 Olympics in Athens after a 2-1 upset by Mexico in the semi-final of the CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Maribel Dominguez scored in the 25th and 60th minutes to send Mexico two goals ahead of Canada before Aysha Jamani of Calgary scored Canada’s lone goal in the 83rd minute with a shot from 20-yards out.

Presently, both Jamani and Dominguez are now tied as top scorers of the tournament with six goals each.
