Gay
Olympians in short supply
August 18, 2008 - Only 10 of the 10,500 athletes competing in the
Beijing Olympics are openly gay, according to a study by a gay website.
Some gay athletes fear that coming out would bring disapproval from
fans and team mates, others worry about the damage to endorsements,
Outsports.com said. Unwarranted media attention could also detract
from their performances, it added. |

Perdita
Felicien, Sylvie Bigras lend their voices to anti-doping message
June 19, 2008 - The Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) and
the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) have collaborated to provide
all Beijing-bound athletes and their support personnel with anti-doping
information specific to the upcoming Olympic Games. The message
comes in the form of a ten-minute audiocast, for streaming or download
from the web. Perdita Felicien, two-time Olympic hurdler, delivers
the message to Olympic hopefuls in English, with the French voiced
by the Canadian mission Press Chief, Sylvie Bigras. |

VANOC
files defense statement on women's jumping suit
The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic
Winter Games filed a Statement of Defense on Friday morning in response
to the Statement of Claim issued by several female ski jumpers on
Wednesday, May 21, 2008. VANOC’s Statement of Defense is available
for review from the Supreme Court of British Columbia Vancouver
