Canada finishes
1-2 in women's bobsleigh
Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse led a one-two
punch for Canada in women's bobsleigh, winning gold on Wednesday
at the Whistler Sliding Centre.
Helen Upperton and Shelley-Ann Brown picked up the silver medal
in the Canada 2 sled.
The pair were in fourth heading into today's final two heats.
With one run to go, Upperton and Brown were in a tight race for
bronze, sitting just 0.03 seconds ahead of Germany's Cathleen
Martini and Romy Logsch, but the Germany 2 crashed on their final
run. Both athletes were able to walk away.
The Canada 2 sled also overtook Americans Erin Pac and Elana
Meyers, who were in second with one run remaining.
The medals are an historic first at an Olympic Games for the
Canadian women's bobsleigh team. The previous best was Upperton
and Moyse's fourth-place finish at the 2006 Winter Games.
It's the first time Canada has won two medals in the same event
at the Vancouver Games.
