A Leadership Workshop
Aboriginal Women: Building on Our Strengths
is a new module of CAAWS' Women and Leadership Program.
Developed by Aboriginal women for Aboriginal women,
the module will provide a professional development opportunity
for female Aboriginal sport leaders, volunteers and
parents to increase their skills and encourage them
to become involved in program and service delivery and
decision-making.
Aboriginal Women: Building on Our Strengths in now being
piloted in 5 communities across Canada, those communities
currently involved in CAAWS' Team Spirit: Aboriginal
Girls in Sport project. To enhance the professional
development opportunity, CAAWS has partnered with the
Aboriginal Sport Circle to deliver the Aboriginal Coaching
Manual Workshop in conjunction with the leadership workshop.
Workshop Descriptions
Aboriginal Women: Building on Our Strengths
This leadership workshop, designed by and for Aboriginal
women, will provide an opportunity for women working
or volunteering in the sport, recreation, and education
fields to share their experiences reflect on ideas and
apply specific leadership skills, strategies and techniques.
Discussion will focus on how to improve the sport and
physical activity system for Aboriginal girls and women.
Aboriginal Coaching Manual & Introduction
to Coaching
A practical workshop designed to provide coaches, instructors
and volunteers with tools to delivery quathe Move, OTM, Diabetes Project, diabetes, non-active girls,female-only programming, health and well-being of girls and young women,gender equity, societal barriers, fairness, girls and sport, girls' sport, girl's sport, girls sport, sport for girls, girls on their game, girls self-esteem, Canadian Association for women and sport,women's participation, girl's participation">
