The $2500 scholarship, honouring the memory of 18-year-old Stacey Levitt, who was killed by a car while jogging in Toronto three years ago, goes to:

Anne Benedetti
As a player-coach of the Queen’s University Varsity Lacrosse Team Anne Benedetti helped lead her team to back to back OUA Titles. Both an Academic and Athletic All Star, Anne has also recently been named to the 2000 Canadian Lacrosse Squad. At Queen’s and at the community level Anne has worked to promote athletics. In addition to co-founding the “Kiltworks” Varsity Promotion Group at Queen’s, she works with the grass roots development of women’s lacrosse in Ontario. With the help of this generous award she is looking forward to continuing her education in Law School at the University of Western Ontario. She hopes to one day be able to put back into athletics a fraction of what she has been fortunate to have gained.

Danielle Holdsworth
Danielle Holdsworth is a two-time winner of the first color award for the University of Western Ontario’s varsity figure skating team. She was named this team’s MVP for the 1998-1999 season. She earned standing on the Dean’s Honor’s List for the academic year of 1998-99, which led to her winning the OUA Academic Achievement Award and the Dorothy Thompson Award. She looks forward to great success in the future with the help of the Stacey Levitt Scholarship Award.

 

Becky Beaton
Becky Beaton is a gold honors student and was the student council treasurer for the 1999-2000 school year. She has competed at the provincial level in track and in cross country for the past three years. Becky says ” I am highly honored to be chosen for an award which has recognized athletes of such a high caliber.”

 

 

Dana Robinson
Dana Robinson participates in a wide range of sport related activities in her community and at school. She was a member of the track and field, cross country and volleyball teams. She received the Outstanding Contribution to Athletics Award, was a representative at the Ontario Educational Leadership Camp, and was vice president of the Lord Dorchester Athletic Association. She coached the local elementary and junior boys volleyball teams as well as various community sports camps. Next year Dana will continue her interest in sports by enrolling in the Sports Management Co-op Program at Brock University.

Kathleen Lisaingo
Kathleen Lisaingo has been diving for the past five years, and she will be competing in national competition in Thunder Bay this summer. She also swims for the Coquitlam Sharks as a Senior A and has for the past five years. Kathleen volunteers as a diving coach and is involved in a community peer tutoring program. Through all this Kathleen maintains her academic standing as an honor roll student. ” As my dream is to pursue diving and become a doctor, this scholarship has not only provided me with the financial help but has also given me a strong incentive to fulfill my goals.”
