On the Move

On the Move – Getting Girls and Young Women Active! (3.5 hours)

Interactive, issue-based sessions provide an overview of the initiative, share best practices from across Canada, and provide “how-to” tips to increase the participation of girls and young women. Appropriate for everyone from practitioners to policy makers, the workshops also provide an opportunity to discuss collaboration and local action to make a difference in the lives of girls and young women in our communities.

In addition to a general On the Move workshop, three targeted workshops are available:

  • On the Move – Engaging Aboriginal Girls and Young Women
  • On the Move – Engaging Newcomer Girls and Young Women
  • Quality Active After School Programming for Girls and Young Women

On the Move – Making Healthy Connections with Racialized Communities (3.5 hours)

Ontario communities are becoming increasingly diverse, creating new challenges and opportunities for community sport and physical activity providers. Based on CAAWS’ newest publication, this workshop discusses the complexities of race, racialization and racism; explores findings from focus groups with racialized girls and young women, and service providers; and provides practical tips and ideas to enhance sport and physical activity programs and services.
