Canadian Women & Sport is delighted to announce the names of the 30 organizations selected to receive a 2020 WISE Fund grant.

The Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sport and Physical Activity (CAAWS) revealed today its new name and branding as Canadian Women & Sport.   

In honour of International Women’s Day, join CAAWS for a conversation on what it means to play your part in the movement for gender equity.  

2019 is coming to a close in a couple of weeks – hard to believe, we know! This year has been full of huge moments for women and sport, but here are a few small(er) moments that brought us joy: 

CAAWS is excited to announce the six MSO and NSOs who will be piloting and supporting the development of our new Gender Equity Playbook. Alpine Canada, Athletics Canada, Rowing Canada, Canada Snowboard, Sport for Life, and Baseball Canada will be working with CAAWS over the next year to pilot the three…

CAAWS is excited to announce the results of its 2019 Board of Directors Election. New to the CAAWS board is Camille Wallace, who has been elected for a two-year term. Rebecca Shanks was also successfully re-elected to her position as Director-At-Large.  

Gender issues in sport have been top of mind this summer. Stories about the folding of the CWHL, the U.S. Women’s National soccer team’s fight for equal pay, continued discrimination against Caster Semenya, and Bianca Andreescu’s US Open win have all encouraged conversation about how we treat women and girls who play and lead in the sport…

CAAWS is excited to release new application criteria for the 2020 WISE Fund program. Applications for 2020 grants will open on October 11, 2019.  

CAAWS and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) are excited to announce the launch of a new project to address the gender gap that persists in coaching in Canada.
