About the WISE Program

The Women in Sport Encouragement (WISE) Fund invests in the development of female leaders in sport and supports organizations to strengthen their engagement of girls and women in sport. Since 2004, CAAWS has awarded $150,000 in grants to leaders and organizations across Canada!

Our two core areas of emphasis are: retention of girls in sport and expanding female leadership in sport. We are proud to support leaders and organizations who are taking steps to bring these goals to life.

We award 10 grants annually, each valued at $1000, through an application process.

Please review the Application Process for full grant criteria and the application form.

We encourage you to also review Past Recipients of the WISE Fund for inspiration!

The WISE Fund Timeline:

  • Late October/early November: Application forms and criteria will be posted on the Application Process page. We will accept submissions for about a month after the launch date.
  • January/February: Applicants selected to the short list will be notified and asked to send a letter of support from their National Sport Organization, as well as other supporting documentation.
  • Early March: All applicants will be notified as to the status of their application.
  • Mid/Late March: The recipients will be announced on the CAAWS website and social media.

Due to the high submission volume, CAAWS will not be able to respond to inquiries regarding the status of individual applications. We are also not able to provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.

We do our best to make our criteria clear and will continue to refine the application process so you know exactly what we’re looking for!

Check our newsletter for yearly information about application dates and deadlines.
