Application Process

The 2019 WISE Fund application process will open on November 1st, 2019. Grant recipients will be announced in March of 2019. Check back here or sign up for our CAAWS ENews to receive more information.

WISE Fund Application Instructions

  • Organizations Make Note. Organizations applying for grants must review the Actively Engaging Women and Girls: Addressing the Psycho-Social Factors to increase their capacity to deliver quality programs and services for girls and women.  Organizations applying for grants must also detail what stage of LTAD their program will focus on. (Note: Due to restrictions on CAAWS’ funding from Sport Canada, the WISE Fund is not intended to support physical activity projects and recreational initiatives.)
  • Online Form Cannot be Saved. You can only apply electronically using the online application form. The online application form cannot be saved and must be completed in one step. As such, be sure to prepare all the information you need before filling it in.
  • Don’t Leave Anything Out. Please read the application form carefully, and complete it in its entirety. Do not forget to provide complete contact information; to select which category you want to apply in; to answer all questions fully; and, to agree to the disclaimer.
  • Make a Copy of the Application before Submitting. Before you submit the application, we recommend you that you keep a copy of the completed application for your records – simply copy the contents of the web page and then paste it into your word processor.
  • We will Only Notify those Who are Shortlisted. Due to the volume of applications anticipated, CAAWS will not be able to respond to inquiries regarding the status of your application, nor will we be able to confirm receipt of applications. Only applicants who are shortlisted or selected as recipients will receive notification regarding the status of their application. If you have not heard from CAAWS by the end of the posted timelines, your application has most likely not been shortlisted.
  • Read the Criteria. Please review the grant criteria below and ensure that your application satisfies all the requirements before applying.

Grant Criteria

We encourage you to review the goals of the WISE Fund in About the Program and to consider how your initiative aligns with those priorities.

In order to be eligible for a WISE grant, applicants must meet the following criteria and fit into one of the two categories:

Category: Coach/Official/Sport Administrator

You should apply for the WISE Fund in this category if you:

  • are a female coach, official, sport administrator, instructor, volunteer, teacher who is interacting with girls and women in a sport AND/OR;
  • have NCCP coaching certification or are in the process of completing it AND/OR;
  • have an affiliation with a provincial/territorial sport organization (PSO/TSO), national sport organization (NSO) or a multi-sport organization (MSO) or work/volunteer for a club/team who is a member of a P/TSO/NSO/MSO

Category: Organization

You should apply for the WISE Fund in this category if you:

  • are representing a club or team that has an affiliation with a provincial/territorial or national sport organization (P/TSO/NSO) AND/OR;
  • are applying on behalf of a P/TSO or NSO or MSO who has a partnership affiliation indirectly or directly with Sport Canada AND/OR;
  • are a community-based or school sports group (such as a club or team) AND/OR;
  • are planning to use the WISE Fund grant for an initiative (new or existing) intended to provide opportunities for girls and women to participate in sport and/or intended to promote sport to girls and women
