CAAWS is working with the following 20 partners to develop healthy living opportunities for Newcomer girls and women in communities across Canada. These organizations agreed to commit to the three-year duration of the project, and demonstrated they are able to directly connect with newcomer girls and/or women in their communities:


AB_inMotion-NetworkinMotion Network (Edmonton) inspires and enables Alberta women and girls of all ages and abilities to engage in sport and physical activity.

AB_West-Wind-GymnasticsWest Wind Gymnastics Club (Lethbridge) is a not for profit organization that strives to provide a full range of high quality men and women’s recreational and competitive gymnastics in Lethbridge and surrounding areas.

British Columbia

BC_Killarney-Community-CentreThe Killarney Community Centre Society (Vancouver) fosters a better quality of life through social, educational, & physical activities for the whole community with accessibility and fairness to all.

BC_Saanich-Parks-and-RecSaanich Parks and Recreation (Victoria), a part of the Corporation of the District of Saanich, provides sport and healthy living options for all residents of Saanich and the surrounding area.

BC_Strathcona-Community-CentreStrathcona Community Centre Association’s (Vancouver) mission is to sustain, promote, and develop a resource that supports the changing social and recreational needs and aspirations of the Strathcona Community.


MB_Accueil-FrancophoneAccueil Francophone (Winnipeg), an entity of the < Société de la francophonie manitobaine >, was created in 2003 to ensure a successful settlement experience for francophone newcomers in Manitoba.

MB_Manitoba-Islamic-AssociationManitoba Islamic Association (Winnipeg) is the oldest and largest membership-based Islamic organization in Manitoba. Their programming provides an opportunity for Winnipeggers to come together and learn, play and have fun together.

New Brunswick

NB_Multicultural-Association-FredrictonThe Multicultural Association of Fredericton (Fredericton) plays a vital role in establishing communication and fostering understanding between the local community, settled immigrants and newcomers.

Northwest Territories

NWT_Sport-North-FederationThe Sport North Federation (Yellowknife) represents the Territorial Sport Organizations of the Northwest Territories. The vision of Sport North is to be the recognized leader in sport development and ensure that opportunities in sport, based on fair play, are accessible to all residents of the NWT.

Nova Scotia

NS_Immigrant-Services-Association-of-Nova-ScotiaImmigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (Halifax) has a vision to build a community where all can belong, and grow their mission to help immigrants build a future in Nova Scotia.


ON_Black-Creek-Community-FarmBlack Creek Community Farm’s (Toronto) mission is to serve and enrich its community through a thriving farm, healthy food, hands-on training and experiential learning.

ON_Huron-Heights-Seconday-SchoolHuron Heights Secondary School (Kitchener) is a part of the Waterloo Region District School Board, serving approximately 1 400 students of which 50 percent are female.

ON_MLSE-LaunchpadMLSE Launchpad (Toronto) is the first facility of its kind in North America built to provide sport and life skills programming for youth facing barriers living in the Greater Toronto Area.

ON_South-Nepean-Community-Health-CentreSouth Nepean Community Health Centre (Ottawa) is a satellite of Pinecrest-Queensway Community Health Centre offering primary care and health promotion for residents in the Nepean, Rideau and Osgoode areas with a focus on the social determinants of health.

ON_Toronto-Public-HealthToronto Public Health’s (Toronto) focus is to reduce health inequities and improve the health of the whole population.

Prince Edward Island

PEI-Association-of-Newcomers-to-CanadaPEI Association for Newcomers to Canada’s (Charlottetown) mandate is to provide short-term settlement services, and long-term inclusion and community integration programs for new immigrants in the province of Prince Edward Island.


QC_Femmes-RelaisFemmes Relais (Montreal) aims to allow the successful integration of all immigrant women residing in Montreal through facilitating translation, assistance, and training to participate in their community.

QC_YMCA-St-LaurentYMCA Saint Laurent (Saint Laurent) is on a mission to build stronger communities by providing opportunities for everyone to lead fulfilling, active, healthy and engaged lives.


SK_Moosejaw-Multicultrual-CouncilThe Moose Jaw Multicultural Council (Moose Jaw) is a settlement and integration agency that serves all classes of newcomers to Canada in the community of Moose Jaw and surrounding rural areas.
